Las Vegas Hilton Hotel was the first to trial these machines, after a few issues with cheating were resolved the Nevada State Gaming Commission approved the slot machine. Multi-line slots started to become more favoured in the 90s, now you can easily find slots with as many as 1024 paylines. Reel machines only allow you to win the jackpot by playing the maximum number of coins per spin, whereas with video slots the fixed payout values are multiplied by the amount that has been wagered on each line, per bet.
Video slots have no moving parts at all but instead, have a graphical representation on a video screen representing the reels. Video slots allowed the manufacturers to change the design considerably and allow players to place bets on multiple lines and increase their stake.
